North of England Pekingese Championship Show Saturday 5th July 2008 I would like to thank the officers and committee for giving me the opportunity to judge my first Pekingese Championship show. It was indeed a privilege to be able to go over such a wonderful selection of 68 dogs from an entry of 90. The venue in the North East provides exhibitors and spectators with ample car parking, a large ring and first class hospitality. The Secretary, Miss Mallows, is to be congratulated on providing all exhibitors with individual gifts on entry to the show and excellent catering. There was a friendly atmosphere all day where all class winners were applauded. My thanks must also go to my good friends, Jeff and Sheila Hindle, acting as extremely efficient stewards. Minor Puppy dog (4, 1 absent)1st Cairns CERANG LEO Smart, well-balanced r/bm dog that has the most beautiful large, lustrous, dark eyes, giving a pleasing expression. He has a broad skull, wide muzzle, long well feathered ears and large, open nostrils. Short, thick, heavily boned forelegs, tight at the elbow with well laid back shoulders allowed this pup to move well. He has a typical free, rolling gait. His top coat is coarse with a rich red colouring. This pup picked up heavy. 2nd Bartrim TRIMBAR MIRACLE MAN Pale fawn b/m with a large head, short neck and sturdy well-built body. However he was much lighter when picked up than first. 3rd Kane YAKEE ALBERTO Puppy dog (3, 0 absent)1st Livesey LIVANDA GIOVANNI The first impression this youngster gives suggests that he must be assured of a very rosy future. Correct size, his body is short, distinctly heavier in front than behind and has a well-sprung ribcage with level topline. Large, dark lustrous eyes accentuate his large head and broad skull. His coat was immaculately prepared as were all from these exhibitors. 2nd Davenport GREYPORT JEFFERSON Another extremely attractive pup, just preferred the better shoulder placement and tighter elbows of the first. He is well coated without obscuring his shapely body, his head is large with round, dark eyes. 3rd Lamb JULAN-YAP FAVOURITE TIPPLE Junior dog (8, 2 absent)A lovely class to judge with all three placed being able to change places on another day. 1st Macdonald GUZMAC MISTER MIDNITE Mature black dog, stylish, short-backed that made an immediate impression on entering the ring. Long, straight coat is in excellent condition. Short, thick, heavily boned forelegs with good tight elbows. His movement was a joy to watch as he responded to his owners every wish. He also picked up heavy. 2nd Offiler & Mays STSANJA I’M TELLING YOU An extremely glamorous boy with a lovely head, beautiful large, dark, round eyes and shapely body. His coat, of the correct texture, is in excellent condition. He, too, moved very well indeed. 3rd Smith PALACEGARDEN BAROQUE Graduate dog (7, 0 absent)1st Livesey LIVANDA SAN-ETO 10 month old b/m fawn that is so correct in all departments, darkest of nose pigment and pigmentation around his large, dark, lustrous eyes. He has a beautiful, large head, broad, flat skull with plenty of width between his ears. Well sprung ribcage, correct front, short, level back. Short Neck with well laid back shoulders. His tail is well set and carried tightly over his back. Glamorous coat in excellent condition. Best Puppy in show.2nd Risbey PASCAN PLAY IT HOT A 19 mth old that could benefit from more body weight. This young dog has the loveliest head and expression. Superb, large dark eyes, blackest of nose pigment. Well-feathered ears, set correctly. Good body shape, nice neck and shoulders leading into a level top-line both standing and on the move. A lovely size for his age. 3rd Thornley SWANKIPAUSE EDUARDO Post Graduate dog (8, 1 absent)1st Pemberton & McNamara LYNBANK MR BRIGHTSIDE A well deserved Res. CC winner, this self-masked cream dog is the ultimate in soundness. A small, well-balanced dog, thick set with a short neck and body, broad skull and large, open nostrils. He has heavily boned forelegs, tight elbows and well laid back shoulders. He is not overly coated, what he has is of the correct texture and displays a profuse mane forming a cape around his short neck. This dog’s overall shape and movement was a joy to see. He responded so well to his owner/ handler.2nd Smith PALACEGARDEN McCAFFERTY My first impression was that this boy was to be my class winner, unfortunately he did not pick up as heavy as first nor did he have the winner’s overall soundness. However he is a most pleasing dog of the correct size with a good head and large, dark eyes. His coat was an attractive colour and he sired the minor puppy winner. 3RD Bartrim SWANKIPAUSE ENRICO AT TRIMBAR Limit dog (7, 1 absent)Again a lovely class with a difficult decision between all three placed. I am quite sure that the winner will gain that elusive third CC in the near future. 1st Grant SUSHIMA DRESSED IN BLACK Such a sound, well balanced black with an attractive broad head and pleasing expression. This dog aims to please and stands on four good legs that are heavily boned at the front and lighter at the rear. His positive movement comes from a correctly constructed body. He picks up heavy. 2nd Morley & Box JIDORAN RODRIGUEZ A most attractive young dog who has plenty of time on his side to mature. He has a short body, level topline with moderately turned stifles. His front construction is good, allowing plenty of heart room between his deep chest. Lovely, broad head, large, dark lustrous eyes and plenty of ear feathering. 3rd Offiler STSANJA THE MAN THAT GOT AWAY. Open dog (5, 2 absent)1st Parkin & Lee CLIFFVIEW SECOND TIME ROUND C.C. winner & B.I.S. This 3 yr old just gets better every time I see him. For me, he displays an overall totally balanced picture. His small stature, thick-set appearance and large, shallow head portray the breed standard. His long, straight coat, whilst not excessive, is in excellent condition and shows off his distinct waist and profuse mane extending beyond his shoulders. These are well laid back and fit tightly into his body. His head is lovely to look at with his dark, lustrous eyes sparkling, level lips and firm underjaw. His movement was the best on the day, displaying the typical slow, rolling gait that one could expect from a soundly constructed animal.2nd Morley & Box JIDORAN ANTONIO A younger dog of almost 19 mths and of a similar type to 2nd in the previous class. Much of my remarks would be similar. These exhibitors dogs are well schooled and immaculately presented. 3rd Hefferman TONBUK BEANO OF MEZRAB Minor Puppy bitch (8, 2 abs)1st Offiler & Mays STSANJA GIMME GIMME GIMME This attractively marked pup is so well grown and constructed it was a pleasure to judge her. She has a lovely head, with large, dark round expressive eyes and long ear fringing. Her body is short, with ample spring of rib and the most beautifully prepared coat. Her movement was first class for such a youngster. Her handler certainly knows how to get the very best from her. Best Puppy bitch.2nd Johnson ALAMBRA INK-LE-NATION Black, with a well prepared coat, loveliest of eyes and large shallow head. Correct body shape, again with a good spring of rib. Tight elbows fitting very well into short body. 3rd Puttick PENDENRAH BEATRICE LILLIE WITH LAREDGE Puppy bitch (3, 1 abs)1st Macdonald GUZMAC BLACK ROSE This black bitch presents a very well balanced picture, she moved soundly both ways and picked up heavier than 2nd in class. Large head with a broad skull and flat between the ears. Large, expressive eyes, level lips and short heavily boned front legs. 2nd Smith PALACEGARDEN LIBERTY B/m fawn with a beautiful head and expression, large, round dark eyes and in pleasing coat. Her movement mirrored her correct construction. Just preferred the texture of 1st ‘s coat. 3rd Allen JULAN-YAP MY WORLD Junior Bitch (1, 0 abs)1st Parkin & Lee CLIFFVIEW IT MUST BE LOVE It is always difficult when there is only one in a class, however this small red b/m bitch deserved her placing. An attractive young bitch with beautiful eyes. Strong forequarters and well sprung rib cage. Coarse coat that was very well presented. Graduate bitch (3, 1 abs)1st Langelier GELIER SWAN QUEEN Broad, shallow head with very nice, dark eyes. Pleasing type, just needs time to develop in body. 2nd Pemberton & McNamara LYNBANK ROCK ‘N ROLL QUEEN An attractive red b/m, shorter in back than 1st and again has time on her side to further develop in body. Post Graduate bitch (2, 0 abs)1st Marina TOYGLENN MY PARADE IS MARINBOX Total soundness and very good breed type made this red b/m bitch so appealing to be awarded the Res. CC. She is short in back, has an excellent spring of rib, short neck and very good shoulder placement with tight elbows. Attractive head and expression. 2nd Thornley SWANKIPAUSE TICKETY BOO A much older bitch, slightly longer in back and not moving as well as 1st. Heavier coated and obviously feeling the heat. Limit bitch (10, 3 abs)Three, beautiful bitches headed this class, all displaying excellent breed type. 1st Johnson ALAMBRA DIVAHAVEN POSH MADAM An elegant, unexaggerated and well balanced b/m fawn bitch whose movement was a joy to watch. On the move she holds a level topline and carries her tail so correctly. She has the loveliest of heads, large with plenty of width and large, round lustrous eyes. Short in the back and one of the best shoulder placements and tight elbows in the entry today. Her coat was immaculately prepared, is of the correct texture and does not obscure her body shape. CC winner & Res. B.I.S.2nd Puttick LIVANDA LADY LOLA Dark b/m brindle seriously considered for the res. CC; she too is an attractively made bitch with pretty eyes giving a lovely expression. Short body, level topline and really good movement. 3rd Bartrim TRIMBAR SILENT WITNESS Open bitch (6, 4 abs)1st Offiler & Mays SWANKIPAUSE SPINNINAROUND AT STSANJA Well-balanced bitch with a glorious expression. Excellent bone, picking up heavy. She has a large, shallow head, lustrous eyes and very good construction. 2nd Heffernan TONBUK FASHION QUEEN OF MEZRAB This small bitch was not in the best of coats today. Special Beginners D/B (2, 1 abs)1st Langelier GELIER PRINCE CHARMING Short backed dog, unplaced in his previous class. Pleasing head and in good coat. Special Open, bred by Exhibitor D/B (5, 1 abs)1st Montrose KYBOURNE MAJESTIC MANDARIN Mature, attractive dog that moved out well. He has a broad, shallow head with a lovely expression. His coat was well prepared. 2nd Davenport GREYPORT STAR VICTORIA A most attractive red b/m 11 mth old pup. Such a pity that the exhibitors chose not to come back into the ring to challenge for BPIS. 3rd Langelier GELIER PRINCE CHARMING Special Open, not bred by Exhibitor D/B (5, 2abs)1st Tilsed CH. ALAMBRA PURPLE TULIP My first impression of this absolutely beautiful bitch was that she could certainly be a strong contender for top honours. She is so full of breed type, has an immaculately presented coat that could be a lesson to all and her initial movement was slow and dignified. Her head with glorious large, round eyes is broad with large open nostrils. She won two classes but unfortunately in the challenge she just did not move as well as the younger bitches. 2nd Heffernan TONBUK MARGRETTA Attractive headed bitch, but her coat was not at its best today. 3rd Carpenter STSANJA FLY WITHOUT WINGS Special Open, Black, B/T or Particolour D/B (4, 2 abs)1st Jerrison HOLINCA BLACK TAN TA LIZA Slightly taller on the leg than most today, however this black bitch had an attractive head and better nose placement than 2nd. Her movement was okay. 2nd Holt KYBOURNE THE BLACK SPHINX Special Open AOC D/B (1)1st Heffernan TONBUK RANDOLPH OF MEZRAB A most attractive rich coat colour, pity he didn’t enjoy showing inside the hall. Veteran D/B 1st Carpenter STSANJA FLY WITHOUT WINGS 8 yr old dog in very good coat, slightly longer in back, won this class on his pleasing front construction and easy movement. 2nd Courtney GUZMAC TALK OF THE TOWN AT PHILCOURT A dog that I have judged before, smaller in stature than 1st but does not move as easily. 3rd Thornley YAKEE ENCHANTED EVENING AT SWANKIPAUSE Special Open, Edgar Lambert Memorial Stakes (4, 0 abs)1st Tilsed CH. ALAMBRA PURPLE TULIP 2ND Langelier GELIER PRINCE CHARMING 3RD Montrose KYBOURNE EASTERN MANDARIN Lorraine Gillhespy Judge
